Vancouver Firefighters feel that no child should go hungry at school. With this in mind, VFC partners with the Vancouver School Board to ensure that snacks will go to children in need. The snacks are distributed discreetly through an accessible distribution system that allows the child to participate anonymously without fear of humiliation or being judged by peers.
VFC strives to provide the most nutrition for a student through a cost effective approach: The ultimate goal is to nourish students for learning. The program focuses on providing each student with a nutritious snack bar (nut free), a non-perishable juice box, and a fruit option each day*.
VFC's Snacks for Kids Program is funded with VFCS Member Payroll Donations and by Fundraising events. Snacks go to only to children who are not having their nutritional needs met at home or by other support services.
Many thanks go to our community partners who contribute generously to VFC fundraising initiatives each year, making it possible for us to reach more children throughout Vancouver:
Your contribution helps extend the reach of our program. We are a volunteer organization and every dollar donated goes back into our community. Your donation makes a difference! $ 500 = 1500 snacks
$1,000 = 3000 snacks
$2,500 = Snacks for 500 Kids for 2 weeks.
$5,000 = Nourishment for our city's most vulnerable kids for a month

Fighting hunger in our city's schools is a team effort. Thanks to your support we now serve daily snacks to over 1000 vulnerable kids! While we are proud of this accomplishment, this is an unfortunate milestone that speaks to the problem of child poverty in our city. Please consider joining our fight against child hunger in our schools. Donate now, your help makes a huge difference in the lives of the kids we support!

*VFC is aware that best practice would be to provide perishable items like milk, dairy, whole grains and fresh fruit. However, those items pose challenges with respect to delivery and storage, and ultimately safe distribution to in-need students.
Thanks to Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House for hosting the Umbrella Day Fundraiser 2015, where over $100,000 dollars was raised for the Snacks for Kids Program. Thanks also go to Dotty Kanke, Allwest Insurance, and Brown Bros. Ford for their kind support.
