VFC Community Battalion (COMBAT)
The VFC Community Battalion team is a working group of the Vancouver Firefighter Charities, created in 2013. This is a volunteer team of experienced professionals, who have specific skills and experience in a variety of fields. The team's mission is to continue to raise awareness of the charity, and to support, enhance and grow the fundraising initiatives of the Vancouver Firefighter Charities.
How the Community Battalion Got Its Name:
The City of Vancouver Fire Department has 20 Fire Halls, organized into three “Battalions”. These Battalions cover three distinct geographic areas: Vancouver East, Vancouver West, and Vancouver Downtown/Core. It is within these three Battalions that much of Vancouver Citizens’ needs in terms of Life-Safety are met. The VFC considers the “Community Battalion” to be an additional Battalion that helps Vancouver Citizens - not through on-the-job life saving, but through the donation of critical skill sets and time.
