Off-duty Vancouver Firefighters hit the streets to get you ready for the rainy season while raising critical funds for our Snacks For Kids program. Visit us downtown to purchase a custom VFC umbrella, donate, or say hello, every dollar raised helps feed hungry kids.
Snacks For Kids is how Vancouver Firefighters support food-insecure youth in our community. Off-duty Vancouver Firefighters are the driving force behind Snacks For Kids, delivering nutritious snacks, fresh produce, and meals to schools in need. Today, the program provides daily support to 12,000 youth across 103 schools and after-school programs in Vancouver.

Support Our Mission To End Child Hunger
Child poverty in Vancouver is a heartbreaking reality for far too many children in our community. With 1 in 5 kids going to school hungry every day, many children don’t know when they will be getting their next meal. In response to this alarming need, Vancouver Firefighters took action, and in 2013 created Snacks for Kids.
The program is delivered in partnership with the Vancouver School Board (VSB). Vancouver Firefighters purchase and distribute nutritious snacks, fresh produce, and healthy meals to schools with identified populations of food insecure students. VSB staff establish a system for children to access the food that is discreet and anonymous, ensuring they maintain their dignity and face no stigmatization.

Community Support Ensures We Reach Every Kid
Did you know that nearly 85% of Vancouver Firefighters donate to the VFC through our Payroll Donation Program? Since its creation in 2012, this program has generated over $1.25 million, providing a critical baseline of funding for initiatives like Snacks For Kids.
But while we believe in our programs so strongly that we personally fund them, the need in our community is too great for us to take on this challenge alone. Generous community support is the vital additional layer of support that helps us get food to every child in need of support.
